Learn about our Golden Retrievers

Our Golden Retrievers are bred to reflect the true purpose and temperament of the breed: kind, thoughtful, stable dogs with functional structure and genuine working ability.

They are not oversized, exaggerated show dogs, and they are not nervy or over-sensitive. Balance is deliberate.

Our Golden Retrievers

At Coerthas Retrievers, our Goldens are selected for:

  • Calm, steady, people-focused temperaments
  • Trainability and willingness to work with their handler
  • Natural retrieve and soft mouth
  • Emotional resilience and adaptability

They are dogs that form strong bonds with their families and thrive when included as part of daily life.

Health & longevity

Health is not an afterthought in our programme.

All Coerthas Golden Retrievers used for breeding:

  • Are BVA hip and elbow scored within recommended limits
  • Hold current up-to-date clear eye certificates
  • Are DNA tested for relevant inherited conditions

We keep our programme intentionally small and do not breed unless it serves the future of our dogs and the breed.

Suitability & lifestyle

Our Golden Retrievers are best suited to:

  • Active companion homes
  • Families wanting a stable, trainable dog
  • Owners who value temperament and welfare over exaggeration

They are affectionate and people-oriented dogs, but they still require guidance, training, and appropriate outlets to thrive.
